Royal Icing Sugar Cookies

BASIC SUGAR COOKIE 

To decorate with royal icing

Ingredients:

1 C unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 C confectioner’s sugar

1 egg

2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond emulsion

2 3/4 C AP flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt


Directions:

Cream together softened butter and confectioner’s sugar. Crack the egg into separate bowl and add the flavoring. Add egg mixture to the butter sugar mixture and mix until egg is thoroughly incorporated. 

Add the baking powder and salt. Then add the flour little by little. It is ready when it no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl. 

Roll onto floured surface. Cut and bake at 400 for 7-8 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
