My son wanted a Buzz Lightyear cake for his birthday, but we ended up doing a huge toy story cake with all his favorite characters. This cake was so much fun to make! I combined some ideas from different cakes I saw online. This was my first time using fondant, but I was quite pleased with the outcome. The bottom layer is a 12-inch pan, the middle layer is an 8-inch pan and the top layer was molded to a round bowl after it was cooked to get the right shape. For the moon I marblized it by coloring the fondant my base color and then added some streaks of color and didn't knead it completely in. I used Wilton's tappits for the lettering. The fence design was done with toothpicks.
